Animatic

After the storyboard, the next step in the process was to create an animatic of our film. This was made in TvPaint Animation 10 Pro by drawing sketch by sketch (classic animation) with a digital tablet in order to create the movement and consequently the story. The animatic allowed us to roughly visualize our story in motion and it was the actual beginning of “constructing” the film. This helped us a lot to understand what worked in the story and what didn’t. Having the shots in a rough edit, made us reconsider many things and we made a lot of changes to the order of shots during this process. Moreover this process gave us the opportunity to experiment with the montage, space/timing, camera angles and composition. Also in the animatic we made the first trials with the sound so we had an idea of what we wanted and how that would work with the images in motion.
