The Set - Construction

Looking at the sketches of our set it might look quiet easy to construct it: a squared platform with four pillars. But it was not that easy to find the right materials.

Having really clear measurements of the pillars, we started looking for it in all kind of stores: hardware stores, furniture stores, wood stores and online shops. But all the search with no results. Having a low budget, we had to find material for reasonable prices, which made the search even harder. First we wanted the columns to be made out of metal or wood, to make them more stable, but soon we started looking for other materials too. Finally we decided to buy PVC tubes, which turned out to be the best solution.

For the platform we used a piece of wood we found at university, which just had to be cut into the right size.

Finally we had the two main parts of our set: platform and pillars. But how to fix one to the other was the next problem we faced. After discussing the options we had, we choosed that the best way would be to glue wood to the inside of the tubes to drill them to the wooden base. Once this was done we had the basics for our set and could go on with choosing the paint and background.
